Unknown Gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram insurgents have attacked customs house in Geidam town, Yobe State at around 21:30pm hours of Saturday.
It was gathered that the insurgents stormed the customs office along Maine Soroa road in a Volkswagen Golf and started shooting.
A resident of the area Usman Nndama in an interviewed with Radio Nigeria, said they all ran for their lives and safety, on hearing gun shots.
The unfortunately event lead to the death of one of the custom officers, Usman Gombe, while attempting to rescue himself from the insurgents.
He explained that the insurgents also burnt down the customs patrol van, a generator, and part of the customs house building
Residents of the town told Radio Nigeria that the activities of Boko Haram insurgents on the outskirts of Geidam town had increased in recent days, and had led to the death of about three security operatives including an NSCDC officer on its market day.
Normal activities have since resumed in Gaidam town as usual without panicking.
