At least 21 persons were reported dead and several others injured after an open body tricycle hit a landmine planted by Boko Haram terrorists in Goni Mittari Village, which is few kilometers away from Gaidam Local Government Area, Yobe State.
The bomb exploded at about 6:30 pm, when members of the public where on their way back home, after funeral prayers and condolence visit of their friends and family at a neighboring town called Nngurro Kayiyye which was attacked by a group of unknown Gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram.
When contacted, the state police public relations officer Abdulkareem Dungus said the police has no exact amount of all the casualties, but some escaped with gun shots wounds and other still missing.
According to an eyewitness Usman Nndawo, about 20 people are affected by the explosion and 11 died at the spot on Tuesday.
As at the time of filling this report, the other 9 persons affected by the explosion were also buried on Wednesday Morning.
It was reported that on Monday October 30, the insurgents opened fire on a group of about 40 Men, due to their inability to pay the taxes imposed, but there are no justification that they are all dead.
Gumsa and Nngurro Kayiyye have been a major source of revenue to Boko Haram Insurgents for a very long time.
