Emir of Fika, Chairman Yobe State Council of Traditional Rulers and Coordinator Northeast National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria, Dr. Muhammad Ibn Abali Muhammad Idrissa has appreciated the efforts of the federal government of Nigeria under the able leadership of President Muhammad Buhari for establishing the Commission for the states affected by Boko Haram insurgency.According to him "It is necessary to inform this gathering that about 80 percent of the Yobe population are agrarian who have over the years being thrown into total disarray by Boko Haram insurgency. They could not freely access their farmland and the already harvested and stocked ones were either looted or burnt to ashes"."The impact of North East Development Commission (NEDC) is being felt by our community members, your interventions especially in agriculture is restoring hope on our people, we solicit for the timely and adequate supply of fertilizer and other agricultural inputs to boost the yield of our farmers"."The Commission should support the traditional leaders in the formation of a more organized Vigilante groups in order to safeguard the lives and properties of people living in the rural areas".The Royal Father added that "The Commission can also intervene to reduce the menace of youth unemployment through establishment of more skill acquisition centers and graduate them with starter packs"."Most of the rural areas of Yobe State, Eastern parts of Fika and Gujba, Gulani areas are faced with acute water supply due to large deposit of limestone and gypsum, special rig should be deployed to drill boreholes in the area for proper hygiene and disease prevention"."The Commission should also consider the provision of rural roads to link with urban center to enable farmers easily transport their farm produce to markets"."In our capacity as the Coordinator Northeast of the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria, we are in the process of organizing how we can key in the gathering momentum to succeed for the commission"."In conclusion, we congratulate His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Yobe State, His Excellency Hon.
