Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (YOSEMA) in collaboration with Agro Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) has on Friday, organized a one day Sensitization and Awareness campaign on Flood Preparedness and Response in Geidam, Gujba and Potiskum LGA.
Speaking at the campaign, the Dr. Baba Jalo who represents the Executive Secretary of YOSEMA Dr. Mohammed Goje said, the awareness campaign was aimed at identifying key challenges and lessons learned from the 2022 flood disaster in the affected communities, sharing response mechanisms based on the local area context, and sharing the basic needs and support required to address the 2023 flood disaster response.
The ES further revealed that other LGAs in the flood-prone area would be considered including Bade and Jakusko LGAs.
The campaign was held in the Potiskum LGA town hall and in attendance were traditional rulers, religious leaders, security personnel, LEMCs, LGA CDOs, CSOs/CBOs, and Local Government Coordination Focal persons in the various LGAs.
