Governor Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi state has sworn- in the twenty one elected Local Governments Council Chairmen and their Deputies.
Speaking shortly after administering oath of office to the newly elected Chairmen, Governor Bagudu charged them to be dedicated, hard working, honest and fair and as well take their local governments as their constituencies.
He advised the newly Council Chairmen to work for the benefit of all irrespective of any political party.
The Governor admonished the Council Chairmen to listen to the voices of everybody, including those who elected them and otherwise saying,’ this is to show that your victories are not misplaced.
He challenged them to also do more to better the lives of youths and the people living with the disability in order to better their lives.
The Governor disclosed plans by the state government to reintroduce the Area Development Councils, along with the appointment of their Chairmen, Deputies and Councillors.
Governor Bagudu however commended the State Independent Electoral Commission ( KESIEC) , Security, Media, Political parties as well as the electotorates for the peaceful election conducted across the state.
Responding on behalf of the newly sworn Council Chairmen, Chairman of Birnin Kebbi local Government Area, Aminu Sarkin Fada, thanked the governor for his support which according to him was instrumental to their success.
He expressed appreciation to APC stakeholders who were involved in making sure they emerged as the APC candidates as well as the electotorates for enduring to vote them into office.
He assured the governor of the unflinching resolve of the newly elected Chairmen to support him in moving Kebbi State forward.
Sixteen women were elected as Cocunillors in local government areas across the state.
