The Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party Peter Obi has promised to secure lives of property of people of the North East and the entire country if voted into power.
The Presidential candidate made the promise while addressing party supporters at Ramat Square Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.
He also pledged to review the security architecture and equip the military and other security agencies to effectively combat myriad of insecurity confronting the country.
Peter Obi explained that Borno state has the capacity to feed the entire nation, however the Boko Haram insurgency has severely affected the economy and productivity of the state.
“We will secure and unite Nigeria. The enemies are no more formidable, the criminals are no more formidable, we will equip the security agencies properly, we will make sure they have confidence to fight the criminals” Obi assured.
The Presidential candidate said next month’s election is not about religion or ethnicity but should about character, competence and trust.
Vice Presidential candidate of the Party Dr. Ahmed Datti described Peter Obi as a detribalised Nigerian who is commited to change the fortunes of the country.
The Presidential candidate and his entourage also addressd group of academics, students and youth at two separate townhall meetings where he assured to end incessant Academic Staff Union ASUU strikes if elected.
He promised to come up with education loan for students of tertiary institutions assuring that jobs would be guaranteed to enable graduates offset the loans.
Mr. Peter Obi and his delegation have earlier paid traditional homage to the Shehu of Borno Alhaji Abubakar Garbai Elkanemi where the royal father requested the resumption of oil exploration in the Lake Chad, address food and general insecurity and construct some major highways in the state if elected.
