A nongovernmental organisation, Hannan Global Green Society, has distributed over five hundred tree seedlings to Women in Zuru Emirate in Kebbi state.
Speaking on the distribution, the founder of the organisation and wife of the Emir of Zuru, Hajiya Hannatu Sani Sami, said they decieded to distribute the swedlings free to Women whom are the vulnerable in the society.
The wife of the Emir, said the seedlings are improved and economic trees that can assist Women economically to earn a better living.
According to her, most Women that will benefit are widows that needs assistance towards improvement of their living standard.
The Coordinator of the organisation, Ardo Muhammad Aliyu, said the tree seedlings distributed include guava, mango, pawpaw and banana amongst others.
He said that, it will be a continues process and also to ensure the fight against desertification.
In a remark, Emir of Zuru, Rtd. General Sani Sami, congratulates his wife for the giant stride in empowering the less privileged.
The Emir charged traditional leaders to encourage and support thier subjects on the need to avoid indiscriminate cutting of trees and as well plant more trees for the benefit of all.
He called on people to key into planting of tress with a view to fight desertification in there areas.
