The Federal Government is to design a Digital Postcode System to aid economic national planning policies and projects. The Digital Postcode is to be designed by the Nigerian Postal Service, NIPOST in collaboration with the National Population Commission, NPC. Addressing a joint Press Conference in Abuja, the Post Master General of the Federation and Chief Executive of NIPOST, Dr Ismail Adewusi and the Chairman of the National Population Commission, Mallam Nasir Kwarra both said the postcode system is critical to achieve the aim of the Sustainable Development Goal which includes economic planning to address poverty, disease and provide basic amenities. The Post Master General Dr Adewusi said Postal services were to be harnessed to reach grassroot areas with government planning policies. He said the digital postcode which had precision features for security operativity and surveillance was first developed in the eighties. The National Chairman of The Population Commission, Mallam Nasir Kwarra said a Geographical Information System has been generated to ease the forthcoming Census and harness postal services for financial inclusion. Mallam Nasir Kwarra said the recently concluded Enumeration Area Demarcation, EAD was meant to enhance the content of the digital document. The event featured the signing of the collaborative agreements between both agencies and presentation of papers on the postcode interpretation and delineation of areas to harness the Postcode system.DANIYAN
