Yobe State Emergency Management Agency has held a Stakeholders meeting today 25th August 2023 in Potiskum.
The meeting which was led by the Chairman of Potiskum local government area, Hon Salisu Muktari Bello was aimed at discussing modalities set on ground to supporting the vulnerable populace in Potiskum local government for the distribution of palliatives.

The chairman assured community leaders that he will continue to source for more resources and support to Potiskum, especially looking at the population of Potiskum compared to other LGAs.
In his remarks, the Executive Secretary SEMA Dr. Mohammed Goje briefed the Stakeholders on SEMA’s mode of operation, disaster response and aproach to supporting communities affected by disaster as well as limitations and new innovations in line with Governor Bunis Emergency Response Plan.

On Paliatives distribution, the ES said ” these are trying moments and no amount of support to a vulnerable and needy person is too small”.
He further disclosed that about 6800 vulnerable persons from over 60 communities across 10 wards, including teachers from Primary and secondary schools, PLWD, LGA staff, members of Market Unions, GSM sellers and repairs vendors, NURTW, Orphanages, widows would benefit from the palliatives distribution.

Dr. Goje urged the community leaders to pray and hope for the end result of the Subsidy removal benefits the nation”
Present at the meeting ware representatives of religious group, political parties, traditional ruler, security and CSO amongst others who also gave their remarks and inputs on the palliatives distribution process.
