Legislativeve Aide to Senator Bomai, Abubakar MB Tamana, has clarified report published by gazettengr.com highlighting issues uncovered by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) during their standard review of constituency projects in 2021.
In an exclusive interview, the Legislative Aide debunked the allegations, asserting that the report contains inaccuracies and misleading information.
He said the report from gazettengr.com pointed out discrepancies in the execution of certain projects, particularly focusing on water boreholes and generator installations.
The Aide explained that, according to the report, ICPC found out that a borehole that was meant to be dug in the Sabongari area of Nangere Local Government Area (LGA) had not been executed, while other boreholes were diverted to some communities and equipped with substandard generators.
Abubakar also said that the report further disclosed that a missing power generator allegedly stolen from College of Administration and Management Technology (CAMTECH) Potiskum was flagged by the ICPC inspection team.
Responding to the allegations, the Legislative Aide emphasized that the report contains is false, adding that it is a manipulation by the some slapdash persons to cause chaos.
The Legislative Aide make clear that Senator Bomai is not responsible for the controversial borehole projects in question.
Tamana further explained that all projects facilitated by Senator Bomai are publicly disclosed on the senator’s official website and are communicated to his constituents.
The Aide refuted claims that boreholes were dug in unauthorized communities and clarified that the allegations of incomplete projects are misleading and for the missing generator, he stressed that the information is untrue.
He urged individuals to independently verify the facts by visiting the location, CAMTECH Potiskum, to conduct an investigation.
Mr Tamana addressed the issue of a missing transformer supplied to the same institution elucidating that this situation arose due to an agreement between Yobe State Rural Electrification Board (REB) and the College.
He said “the original transformer, exceeding the capacity of the ICT Center was relocated based on the agreement that a suitable replacement would be provided by the REB”.
“The arrangement was done independent of Senator Bomai and the contractors, he added.
