The National Council of Women’s Societies,Yobe state branch has organized a one-day walk to the State Ministry of juJusticeeeking for justice for Ammi Mamman who was murdered in damaDamaturu in the early hours of Thursday the 4th of January 2024.
National Council of Women’s Societies (NCWS)is a non-profit organization that is committed to the cause and well-being of women and girls in the society, community, and country at large.
The road walk which started at exactly 10:am from 27th August stadium gate one in Damaturu to the Ministry of Justice located at the IBB secretariat and House of Assembly Complex was joined by Women groups and partners for solidarity.
During the protest, the women were seen carrying placards containing different messages including “Justice for Ammi”, “Justice be served“,” perpetrators must be exposed ”and “No to violence against women and girls,” among others.
Yobe State Commissioner of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Dr. Maro Ahmad Amshi who led the road wall to the Ministry of Justice and the state House of Assembly said, they are seeking justice for Ammi and felt that the Ministry of Justice is the only channel that they have to come through.
Dr. Amshi stated that they are also at the Ministry of Justice to seek justice”We are aware you stood firm on issues on gender-based violence if we should describe what happened to Ammi, if there is any word to describe what is above gender-based violence this is the barbaric, uncivilized and inhuman to see that a fellow human being who called himself her husband, who is her half that decided to take her life.
“Honourable Attorney General sir, we are here to show our detest what happened and solicit to see that justice is done for our dear sister”, said the Yobe Humanitarian Commissioner.
In response to their call for justice for the late Ammi the Yobe state Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Barrister Sale Samanja said, this issue of Ammi’s Murder has touched every heart of Yobe state.
He assured the Members of the National Council of Women Societies (NCWS) that the Ministry of Justice is a ministry of justice.
“I had you shouting justice for Ammi, Justice for Ammi, I assure you Ammi would get justice. The police are investigating the case now they have not finished their investigation I hope and believe that a thorough investigation will be conducted in that case.
“We in our part in the ministry of justice assure you that as long as we are here will ensure that justice is done to the case”, said the Yobe Attorney general.
The NCWS went further to the Yobe state House of Assembly where they delivered the same message on Justice for Ammi.
